Thailand Public Health Research Fellowship (TPHR)

The TPHR is a Managed Education Partnership (MEP), a bilateral exchange of medical fellows providing Thai doctors with an opportunity to work and learn in the UK, and NHS doctors with an interest in public health the opportunity to undertake a research fellowship in university hospitals in Thailand. The programme offers 12-month global health fellowships focusing on non-communicable diseases in a healthcare system that is different in resource and structure to the NHS. Fellows will work in partnership with teams in Thai medical schools, universities, and hospitals.  Fellows will be supported by an experienced team of mentors, clinical supervisors and research partner organisations. A stipend is provided for the duration of the programme.

Models of Fellowship

The programme offers a 12-month overseas fellowship in Thailand, which is full time. However, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual and hybrid models of the TPHR Programme have been developed. The virtual fellowship is UK-based, and 12-months part-time. The hybrid model is 12-months with a mix of full- and part-time, and is UK-based with some time spent overseas in Thailand. You will have a chance to indicate on your application form whether you would prefer the full-time overseas, virtual or hybrid option.
